Looking for a way to encourage and challenge the youth in your Church or Plant?
SERVE is for you. This July, youth age 12 and up will have the opportunity to work in partnership with local CBWC churches and with some of the many non-profits and inner-city ministries that serve the city.
Service projects typically include community cleanup, painting, gardening, visiting seniors, staffing vacation Bible schools and simple construction jobs.
Being on work crews allows teenagers to bless the community while learning new skills and making friends.
Youth will also participate in Bible studies, learn about faith from engaging Christian speakers, attend vibrant worship services and hear great Christian music. Each evening, youth will learn from a series of keynote speakers drawn from Canadian Baptist Churches.
This year’s SERVE theme is based on 1 John 3:18: “Dear children let us not love with words of speech but with actions.”
Participation in SERVE 2013 is limited to 250 youth and youth leaders. Attending SERVE costs $225 per youth or leader, although any church sending 5 or more youth can send one youth leader for free. Applications and a $50 deposit are due April 4, with the balance paid by May 31. Costs cover accommodation, food and activities related to the mission but do not include transportation to and from Winnipeg. Late registration will be permitted if there is room, but costs will rise to $300.
